Unavoidably Absent :o(

Hi All

I hope you had a great Christmas and will celebrate a Safe, Happy and Healthy New Year in the coming days.

I feel I need to apologise for the lack of content over the past two – three weeks, some of it was totally unavoidable since changing my internet provider I’ve had a few problems – not the ISP’s fault.

I was down for a total of almost two weeks and had four days in between where I was able to access the net – intermittently.

We also had a death in the family a week before Christmas, she had a good innings, but my aunt passed away while we were on our cruise.  The following week was filled with letting family overseas know, and then the actual funeral.

I’m looking forward to starting up my tutorials again in the next few days.  I’m going to try and keep the two videos a week coming out, Friday Frenzy, as usual, will be every Friday morning at 9 am – AEST.

And starting the first week of the new year I’ll be bringing out a new series titled Sunday Sketches.  I have so many sketches set aside on Pinterest and in various books I have at home, I decided to put them to use by incorporating them into new tutorials.  Male and Female cards, Birthday, Anniversary, etc. So stay tuned for that! Monday  nights at 7 pm AEST.

I’m hoping the quality of my videos will improve now as I received a new camera and lighting for Christmas from my family!!

Anyway, I’ll leave you with a pic of just one of the cards I’ve made in the last couple of weeks.

Karen xo

Sunday Sketches #2 – So Very Much – Stampin’ Up!

Well it’s taken me almost a week but I’ve finally uploaded the dimensions for those who wanted measurements for this card.

Measurements:

Basic Black – 12 x 4″ scored at 6″ or 30 x 10 cm scored at 15 cm
Silver Foil – 2 1/2 x 4″ or 6.5 x 10 cm
Silver Foil Scrap – 2″ x 2″

**Fold black cardstock in half and burnish.  Then measure 4 1/4″ down one side of the front of the card and 3 1/4″ down the other side (from fold) and mark each measurement.  Open up the card again, and using your paper trimmer or a craft knife and steel ruler cut from one mark to the other on a diagoal across the card.

***Fold the card in half again and place the silver foil under the cut end, and have it equal with the bottom edge of your card, and mark the two diagonal ends on the foil.  Cut the foil from one mark to the other across, then send the foil through an embossing folder.

****With the cut off piece of black cardstock, measure 3/4″ from the straight cut edge on your paper trimmer and cut. This will be the base of your card.

if this doesn’t make sense, please contact me via the coments section below.

I hope you can follow the instructions up above, and that you enjoyed the making of this card.

Please remember I have Friday Frenzy every Friday at 9am AEST, and Sunday Sketches each Sunday night.

Have a great week!

Cheers,
Karen 🙂

Friday Frenzy #20 – Falling Flowers and Suite Sayings – Stampin’ Up!

And welcome to another Friday Frenzy!  WOW! Hard to believe I’m up to number 20, I didn’t think this series would go for as long as it has. Go ME! LOL

For those here for measurements, here they are:

Whisper White (Thick)  –  11 1/2 x 4″ scored at 5 3/4″  OR 29 x 10.5 cm scored at 14.5 cm
Whisper White  –  5 1/4 x 3 3/4″ OR 13 x 9 cm
Scrap Whisper White  –  1/2 an A4 sheet for stamping and die cutting

I really like the ‘freshness’ of this card, and hope you did as well.

The pearls added a little something, but as mentioned in the video, next time I would add them before adding the diecut flowers around the oval diecut, for ease and so the pearls and flowers all sat ‘just right’.

Join me on Sunday night for another Sunday Sketches and next Friday for another Friday Frenzy!

Until then have a GREAT weekend and an even better week!

Cheers,
Karen 🙂

Anyway, enough with the shameless self-promotion – let’s get on with measurements!

Well, it’s been a while but I finally got around to another Off the Cuff idea. It’s not often that I film my 3D projects but this one, I did.  I had to find a way to use up some of the Playful Palette papers I had and this was perfect, as I needed to make some Thank You gifts and cards for my customers.

I hope you like these little gifties and note cards.  They are so quick and easy to make, and there’s very little in the way of scraps from each 6 x 6″ piece of paper as you can see.

Ok, here are the Measurements:

Chocolate Parcel:

  • 1 piece of 5 x 5″ DSP
  • Scrap of matching cardstock (3 x 3″ or 7.5 x 7.5 cm)
  • Scrap of Very Vanilla (3 x 3″ or 7.5 x 7.5 cm)
  • Scrap of matching cardstock – 1 x 6″  /  2.5 x 15 cm (wrap-around band)

Matching Notecard:

  • Cardstock 6 x 5″ scored at 3″ / 15 x 12.5 cm scored at 7.5 cm

    2.5 x 5″  /  6.5 x 12.5 cm (embossed front panel)
  • DSP – 1 x 5″  /  2.5 x 12.5 cm (outside margin of card)

Friday Frenzy #24 – Card Set – Four from One – Stampin’ Up!

$
0
0

This week’s Friday Frenzy is a little different than normal, in that today I’m making four cards from one sheet of homemade DSP.

I made the paper using the flourish from the Falling Flowers stamp set, but I know there are a few more stamp sets available that have flourishes in them.  Flowering Flourishes is one of them, and I don’t know anyone who didn’t love the Everything Eleanor stamp set for the flourish it had, alone.

But as I said, today I used the one from Falling Flowers.  I used Daffodil Delight as the image colour, I think it looks lovely with the black mat around the focal point.

Anyway – here are the details to make the card set:

Measurements:

1 x White White:  11 x 8 1/2″ sheet  /  A4 sheet (for DSP stamping)
Card Base: 4 x 8 1/4 x 5 3/4 scored at 4 1/8  /  4 x 21 x 14.5 cm scored at 10.5 cm
Basic Black Mat: 4 x 3 1/8 x 4 7/8″  /  4 x 7.8 x 12.3 cm
Scrap Whisper White: 4 x 4″  /  10 x 10cm
Scrap Basic Black: 4 x 4″  /  10 x 10 cm
Scrap Daffodil Delight: 2 x 2″  /  5 x 5 cm

If you haven’t seen the video – here it is:

And a close up of each card:

I hope you’ve enjoyed today’s project and will make some of your own!  If you do, please share them with me in the comments section below. 🙂

Don’t forget to join me on Sunday for Sunday Sketches! If you haven’t already Subscribed to my channel – do so now, so you don’t miss the notification of when I post the presentation box for today’s cards!

Have a GREAT weekend!

Ok, this is this week’s Sunday Sketches sketch and it’s still active as this post goes live. (Click on the sketch to be taken to FMS blog.)  It’s really simple one, and because I’ve had a BIG weekend, my version is as simple as they come.

The measurements are REALLY simple too:

Base Card: 8 1/4 x 5 3/4″ scored at 4 1/8″ or 21cm x 14.5 cm scored at 10.5 cm
Scrap of whisper white: 4 x 4″ or 10 x 10 cm

See, how easy is that??

This is my really easy take on the sketch:

Once again we’re using the 2015-2017 Background DSP from Stampin’ Up! as we say farewell to: Tip Top Taupe, Mint Macaron, Watermelon Wonder, Delightful Dijon and Cucumber Crush.

Now I have to admit, I am not a fan of green normally, but the freshness of Cucumber Crush has grown on me, and I will admit I am going to miss it.

Anyway today I’m using the Dotted Lace Trim again, as I make a self-closing bag/box or whatever you’d like to call it.

I love these little baggies – they hold TONNES of little chocolate Easter eggs.  Well, not tonnes, but LOTS! LOL

Measurements:

8 1/2″ x 7″ Background DSP
Scrap of Whisper White cardstock – for punching flowers
Scrap of Background DSP – for punching flower

A downloadable diagram

This was so easy to put together. However, because of the paper pattern, it was very hard for even me to see the score lines, and I don’t think I did such a great job describing my work, so here is a diagram for you to download so you have a permanent record.

Here is the video in case you missed it:

And a picture of all of the bags in the In Colour series.

Anyway, join me again tomorrow for another in the Easter Boxes series.  Only two more to go!  Tomorrow’s is an Easter Egg box so don’t miss it!
