crafty-christmas-5

Yes another Cookie Cutter Christmas bundle video – but it does show how varied the cards can be with just a few supplies. LOL

Once again a really easy card to make, the dimensions are:

Real Red: 8 x 6″ scored at 4″ or 20 x 15 cm scored at 10 cm
Early Espresso: 2 1/2 x 2 1/2″ or 6.5 x 6.5 cm
Whisper White: 5″ x 6″ or 12.5 x 15 cm
Candy Cane Lane DSP: 1 1/2 x 6″ or  4 x 15 cm and 2 x 2″ or 5 x 5cm
Silver Glimmer Paper: 1 1/2 x 6″ or 4 x 15 cm

These and the remaining supplies needed to make this card can be found beneath the video, in my online store.

I hope you enjoyed this week’s video, and will join me again next week.

Cheers,

4 Cards in 10 Minutes – FAIL – Off the Cuff – Stampin’ Up!

10minutefailure-all-dolallycraftsWell today’s video was interesting.  Hat’s off to Vicky Papaioannou and Brandy Cox who regularly do these 10 in 20 videos. You don’t realise just how hard they are to do, until you try to do one yourself.

Anyway, I’m sure the only reason you’re here on the blog is to get the measurements for the cards. LOL So without further ado…

Measurements:

Very Vanilla Base:  11″ x 4″ or 28 x 10 cm
Colour Card Mat:  4.5 x 3″ or 11.5 x 7.5 cm
Very Vanilla Layer: 4 1/4 x 2 3/4″ or 11 x 7 cm
also
Scrap Very Vanilla:  2 1/2 x 2 1/2″ or 6 x 6 cm  – Bauble
Scrap Colour Cardstock:  2 1/2 x 2 1/2″ or 6 x 6 cm – Bauble backing
Scrap Gold Glimmer or Foil:
1/4 x 1/4″ or 1/2 x 1/2 cm – Star Backing

10minutefailure-all-dolallycrafts-large

I hope you enjoyed the card making procedure but I apologise for the length of the video.  I really didn’t make the 10 minutes – did I?

For those who haven’t seen the video and would like to see how I put this card together, I’ve included the video below.

I must say, that despite the fact I didn’t make the 4 in 10 as I intended, these really are easy cards to make – especially if you do it in a production line.  Say if you made 4 in Dapper Denim, then 4 in Real Red, etc…  They would go quite quickly.

The one important thing to remember when making cards for Holiday times – form a production line.  Pre-cut all of the pieces you’ll need, die cut all the pieces, stamp all the images, etc, etc.

Until next time!
Cheers,

Karen 🙂

gdp058-dolallycrafts-1It’s been a while since I took part in the GDP weekly challenge, and I feel a little bit rusty. LOL

gdp058

But here’s my entry, made using the Garden in Bloom stamp set, Mint Macaron, Smoky Slate, So Saffron and Soft Sky inks. (try saying those last three, five times quickly!)  I also used the So Saffron and Soft Sky to colour the Whisper White for the mats behind each white layer.

I used the Stampin’ Write Marker’s and my Wink of Stella to flick splatters all across the base card before mounting the Soft Sky layer.  Then used dimensionals to mount the focal layer on top.

I did a bad job of fussy cutting the bumble bee, but since there’s no die or punch for it, I couldn’t do it any other way. LOL

Enjoy!

Hope you like this card.

offthecuff3-thankyoucards-dolallycrafts-closeupdspI set myself a challenge after the 4 Cards in 10 Minutes – FAIL video.  That I would make 10 cards in 20 minutes and ACE it!  And I did!  I didn’t realise when making the video, that I’d made them in the 20 minutes I’d allowed, but I forgot that midway through the video the camera cut out, and I wasted/used up one and half minutes re-testing the focus when I restarted the camera, so GO ME!!

Anyway, I really liked how the card turned out, and hope you guys enjoyed watching it.

offthecuff3-thankyoucards-dolallycrafts-fullcard

Once again, I ask that if you didn’t like the video or gave me a thumbs down – PLEASE drop me an email and let me know what it was that you didn’t enjoy.  I’m just curious. ;o)

Friday Frenzy #13 – Suite Sayings Card – Stampin’ Up!

friday-frenzy-13-dolallycrafts-closeupsequinsThis weeks Friday Frenzy video had so many ‘cut and pastes’ in editing, I hope it made sense to anyone watching it. LOL

Honestly, dimensional backing paper is the bane of my life – which is why in future video’s when I have to use more than two or three, I’m going to speed the video up just for the removal of them – they either don’t want to come off the dimensionals – or worse still – they stick to my fingernails from static!! Argh!!

Anyway I do hope you give this card a try, I probably made it seem more difficult than it actually is. LOL

Deets below:

Measurements

Whisper White Base: 8 1/4 x 5 3/4″ scored at 4 1/8″  or  21 x 14.5 cm scored at 10.5 cm
DSP Mat Layer: 3 3/4 x 5 1/4″ or 9.5 x 13.5 cm
Whisper White Top Layer: 3 1/4 x 4 3/4″ or 8.5 x 12.5 cm
Scrap DSP: 3/8″ x 8 1/2″ or 1 x 22 cm (cut into 3 equal pieces then trimmed to desired length)
Scrap Whisper White: 3 1/2 x 1″ or  8 x 3 cm

alittlethanks-dolallycrafts-small1This weekend in Melbourne, is a long weekend for many of us, because it’s the Melbourne Cup – the Race that Stops the Nation.

Being a long weekend, I figured I’d have time to play while hubby watched all things racing, on the TV.

This is what I came up with, I’m pleased with the results, but they’re not exactly what I had imagined when I started playing.  I had a vague idea in my head, but couldn’t quite grasp what I was after.

As you can see, I tried a few different ways, my favourite would have to be the Crumb Cake Monochromatic minus the swirled background on the base card.

Hope you like these cards, I’ve been having a ball on this long weekend. I had an unexpected delivery from Australia Post today (being the Monday of the long weekend, I figured AusPost would not deliver and they did!?!), so I had a small parcel from Stampin’ Up! with some more gorgeous Christmas stamps and dies. (I’m in heaven!!!)

Will upload some more creations in the coming days.

Friday Frenzy #15 – Flowers Falling on a Playful Palette – Stampin’ Up!

friday-frenzy-15-flowers-falling-on-a-playful-palette-dolallycrafts-youtubeI posted a few different variations of this card on Pinterest last week – my all-time favourite would have to have been the two tone one using Crumb Cake and Very Vanilla cardstock. This one, I made, sticking to the colours in the Playful Palette DSP. Blushing Bride, Peekaboo Peach and Sweet Sugarplum – with Mint Macaron thrown in for good measure.

I like the way this one turned out, I think the Playful Palette DSP is a wonderful backdrop for this card and great inspiration colourwise.

Anyway, I know the real reason you’re here is for the measurements, so here they are:

Measurements

Very Vanilla Base: 8 1/4 x 5 3/4″ scored at 4 1/8″  or  21 x 14.5 cm scored at 10.5 cm
Sweet Sugarplum Mat Layer: 3 3/4 x 5 1/4″ or 9.5 x 13.5 cm
Two Pieces of DSP measuring: 3 1/2 x 5 1/4″ or 13 x 5 cm
Scrap Whisper White: 1/4 of a sheet of layering weight Whisper White.
Scrap Sweet Sugarplum: 2 x 1 1/8″  or  5 x 2.75 cm
Scrap Very Vanilla: 1 7/8 x 1″ or  4.75 x 2.5 cm

I hope you give this card a try – if you do, please show my a pic of it in the comments section.  You can find the other cards I made in a similar fashion on Pinterest – just search #fallingflowers and #dolallycrafts

Just Add Ink Challenge – #336 – Colour

$

WOW! It’s hard to believe it’s been a month since I last took part in a JAI challenge.  Doesn’t seem that long ago. But I have been busy both on here and IRL, so the time has flown.

Anyway, this week’s JAI challenge is a Colour Challenge – I kinda like these challenges because you’re not tied down to a particular stamp or die set, you have more scope.  The colours this week are as follows:

jai201buttons036

I don’t think I’ve ever combined these colours on one card before, so this was interesting.  But for days now, I’ve been wanting to mess around with paints/inks and brushes on watercolour paper, so I knew just what I wanted to do.

jai-336-colourchallenge-dolallycrafts-close

First, I arranged the stamps on the cardstock in the way I wanted to stamp them, then I made masks to cover each image as I stamped them.

The large flower was stamped and embossed first, then covered. I stamped and embossed the small flower and covered it, (though I wasn’t sure whether I would be stamping the background image or the leaves a second time, so covered it for good measure.) before stamping and embossing the leaves.

I stamped with Versamark and then embossed with clear embossing powder, as the white would have been too stark on the watercolour paper.

Once all of the images had been stamped, embossed and masked, I used the Smoky Slate to stamp the filigree image on the background.  I had to stamp it three or four times to make sure it stamped between the leaves and flower images, as they are slightly raised from the embossing.

jai-336-colourchallenge-dolallycrafts-closeup

The next step was to colour.  I did double layers of the Blushing Bride and Mint Macaron – allowing the water/ink to dry between applications to get a more varied look to the colouring.

After I finished stamping, I loaded up the water brush first with Blushing Bride and then with Mint Macaron, splattered the inky goodness all over the card front.  I then dragged out the Wink of Stella Clear brush and did the same with it.

I tried to capture the sparkle in the photo’s but it really isn’t done justice, it shines like crazy in real life.

I actually stamped the Forever Begins Today on the watercolour card, but it just didn’t look right, so I stamped it again on a separate piece of cardstock and mounted it on a layer and foam tape.

Then I matted the finished piece onto a Night of Navy mat with foam tape, then mounted the whole thing onto the cardstock base with just snail tape runner.

jai-336-colourchallenge-dolallycrafts

I’m really pleased with how it turned out. I hope you like it too!

Until next time,
Cheers!
Karen 🙂
